Ébauchoirs – objects full of meanings in the shape of modeling tools – have many subtle in every detail of their shape. I can work with them, as well as contemplate them.

There is an ancient tradition in the North of my country ,Transylvania, were I belong : once a year, you go to the forest and ask her to forgive you for all the cut down trees.

On the other hand, when I turn a piece of wood into a sculpture, I work as if it is the only piece of wood I would ever have the chance to touch, a most precious gift.

Almost all my wooden sculptures are made of trees planted by my grandfather or other relatives, trees that, same as the people, grew old and dried.

In fact I consider it is a moral duty to give a new life to the wood, by turning it into works of art, that would go around the World and have their own destiny.

A piece of wood is, to me, as unique and irreversible as a human being.
