    Sketches, ébauchoirs

Like a writer that sketches up ideas, filling up whole note books with all the stages of his “big novel”, in my case, the works in my studio express my trials, struggles, successes and failures on my process of defining “the masterpiece”. Alone in my studio, facing only myself and the history of the culture and civilization, subjectively judging the successes and failures on my life up to this moment with a language I’ve chosen a long time ago, the visual arts.

The sketches – abstract self-portraits that reflect me into an imaginary mirror – represent me, idealise me and also make me assume myself. I can live with them, I can give them names.

Ébauchoirs – objects full of meanings in the shape of modeling tools – have many subtle meanings in every detail of their shape. I can work with them, as well as contemplate them.

Until now, these represent the life I am living now, the research I do in the studio, the surprising discoveries in my life and my work. It is living at full, more than fiction literature or aesthetic artwork.
